Mission Statement
The Peruvian Project, Inc. supports and strengthens local organizations of the jungle area of
Peru, with funds and materials that encourage, facilitate, and enable impoverished children to
attend school.

Peruvian Project, Inc. works with two local organizations in two different cities of Peru.
One is located in the city of Moyobamba, Luisa’s father’s hometown, and the other in Iquitos,
Luisa’s mother’s home. Both of her parents were born in extremely poor homes but were able
to escape from their circumstances through determination, hard work and opportunity.
Peruvian Project, Inc. is Luisa’s way of paying it forward by giving the opportunity to children in
similar conditions in order to help them succeed in school and consequently in life. The children
that we support must demonstrate a willingness to take full advantage of what our organization
offers and, if they do, we will continue to support their educational goals until they graduate
from high school, and beyond.

anything else that will facilitate the learning experience of the children.

Over the past ten years Rush-Henrietta Rotary has donated several thousand dollars to
Peruvian Project, Inc. for this work. Individual Rotarians have donated school supplies, funds,
and items that can be sold in special auctions to raise funds to pay for rent, computers, water,
electricity etc. Most of our Board members, including Jeff and Mary Kay Masters, have traveled
to Iquitos to observe the programs in action. We have also had the participation of young
volunteers associated with Rush Henrietta Rotary Tim Walsh from Rochester, Olalla from Spain
and Nana from Japan.
